Are you a leader who paints a vision and skillfully communicates throughout the company? Are you an expert in eCommerce, keenly aware of what's happening in the industry and in retail? Are you a talented change leaderwho carves the path and executes? Do you truly enjoy rolling up your sleeves to get into the details when needed? Are you energized by transformation and team development in an innovative and exceptional company culture?
Our high growth, profitable eCommerce client Spreetail (www.spreetail.com) seeks to fill a new role leading the vendor management, merchandising, sourcing, and strategic partnerships functions. This position is based on the innovation campus in Lincoln, Nebraska -- a vibrant and exciting community of tech companies, entrepreneurs, and growing businesses -- and will split time between the HQ team and the team in Omaha. The team members establish new vendor relationships, extend existing partnerships, and manage all of the merchandise buying activities from start to finish. Each buyer is responsible for their vendors' P&L, and they are exceptionally good at efficiently and quickly sourcing and selling products that customers crave. Requirements:
Strategic Vision - You will paint the picture of the department, not solving things for your team (25+ team members now, could triple in size in the next few years), but working with them to own and implement the vision you co-create. The team is already successful. You'll think ahead, determine what the team and capabilities of the future need to be, and develop your organization and leaders to keep growing. You'll develop the vision and strategic plans, identify steps, milestones, timelines, resources, and achievements, and communicate that over and over again.
Team Leadership - Deep experience building and leading high-performing teams within eCommerce, retail, CPG companies, or their key global vendors. You'll have dozens of direct reports, so hands-on leadership and visionary strategic capabilities are necessary as the team continues to expand. You have proven your passion to grow and develop leaders on your teams. Collaboration is key, as are speed and decisiveness. Your teams have the autonomy and responsibility to excel, and they're remarkably successful at what they do.
eCommerce Experience - You're curious and consistent in your industry knowhow, and you're always the one people ask about what's happening in the industry. You've led buying activities at a fast-paced company that is evolving with eCommerce. You thrive in new executive merchandising roles, where you're also a key leader in developing new teams, processes, tools, and strategic relationships. You are a strategist who sets new strategic plans and leads the team to execute.

Strategic Partnerships - You recognize opportunities to build new supplier relationships, establish new alliances, and expand existing relationships to grow SKU count exponentially...and profitably. Speed, quality, delivery, trend, market opportunities, spot buying, stellar negotiations and deal-making...all are critical to help the company grow to $500 million, $1 billion, and beyond.

Financial Responsibility - You have owned full responsibility for revenue and the bottom line. Supply chain efficiency is critical to the company's success, so vendor management and merchandise buying expert leaders who are driven and who value strong financial performance will be most successful. You own your business and your team's performance.

This isn't a job or career, this is a lifestyle and it's not for the faint of heart. But for the rare leader who is driven by the challenge and flourishes in a high growth, high opportunity environment, this will be a lot of fun. This is about managing the entire ecommerce product lifecycle, from identifying new categories, developing strategic vendor relationships, managing a significant P&L, building training and development programs for your team, establishing leadership pipelines, and continually improving the supply chain through cost savings and improved efficiencies.

Awesome corporate culture. Ultra-low turnover. Committed team members. No egos or politics. Lean hierarchy and continuous access to senior leadership. This is a career-making role at a company you'll want to be a part of for a very long time.

Relocation provided. Competitive salary, company stock awards, high quality of life, and lower cost of living make this a truly unique opportunity. Occasional travel for trade shows, major vendor meetings and negotiations, and shipping warehouse visits.
