Note: this is a procurement role, not a general supply chain position. The client is seeking a talented, eager, strategic sourcing leader with high potential who has a strong background negotiating and contracting for logistics and transportation (domestic and global).

Our client is a high growth, multi-billion dollar global company seeking a Senior Buyer for transportation and logistics procurement, i.e., air, ocean, LTL, TL. This is a *NEW ROLE* in purchasing and category management with tremendous growth opportunity and career path for the right candidate. The position is located South of Nashville, Tennessee.
 
KEY ACTIVITIES
 
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies  for the North America Logistics Operations team gaining exposure and building relationships with many key management and executive level stakeholders primarily in Logistics, Finance and other related Supply Chain functions
  • Collaborate as key business partner with the Logistics Operations team focused on driving improvements in service, reducing inventory and creating a better, more visible logistics experience for our customers through digitization efforts
  • Promote simplicity and speed in all undertakings
  • Govern commercial relationships with third party suppliers
  • Lead the Request for Information and Request for Proposal process
  • Create negotiation roadmaps utilizing a collaborative project management approach
  • Calculate and coordinate inputs for realized savings
  • Reports to the Regional Commodity Manager for North and South America
  • Geographic scope: North and Central America with link to Global Air & Ocean Purchasing / Operations team members
 
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
 
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or Operations with 3+ years of progressive experience
  • Self driven / motivated individual
  • Project management experience leading cross functional project teams
  • Superior negotiating skills and experience working in a strategic and logistics operational environment
  • High proficiency in relationship management
  • Familiar with management accounting
  • Solid understanding of general business operations including operational support, manufacturing, and supply chain
  • Experience performing complex analysis assignments with a strong financial analysis capability
  • Strong leadership skills : collaboration, communication (verbal & written), influence, drive for results, effective planning / prioritization, project management
