Head of Retail Store Operations

Our global specialty retail client is seeking two retail store operations leaders:
  1. Head of Retail Store Operations (US) to oversee all activities and performance for hundreds of stores in the United States (requires recent experience leading a large and diverse team:employees > 500, sales > $100M, stores > 50). Experience required in large scale and sales retail operations, ideally within fashion or apparel companies.
  2. Head of Retail Store Operations (International) to oversee all activities and performance for >80 stores in multiple countries globally (requires recent experience leading a large and diverse team: employees > 1000, sales > $200M, stores > 80). Experience required in international markets, and particularly within APAC (ideally including China, Japan, and Korea).
This is a successful fashion apparel brand with big wins and big plans, and they need the right executive store operations leaders to make it happen. You will regularly partner with members of the executive leadership team, and you will report directly to the brand's CEO.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the entire P&L for all United States retail stores
  • Motivate, communicate, and continually improve performance of retail store leadership teams
  • Craft and promote a store operations vision that increases sales, improves efficiencies, reduces employee turnover, and ultimately continues to improve the customer connection to the brand
  • Coordinate closely with the US or International Head of Retail Store Operations to ensure a cohesive and compelling vision and performance
  • Act as the authority on retail trends and industry best practices
  • Train and develop leaders who report to you, who each will develop and lead their regional and market retail store sales teams
  • Own the store operations strategy; develop and promote programs that connect the retail associates with the store success vision
  • Partner with finance to build budgets, manage forecasts, and oversee P&Ls
  • Think strategically as a visionary leader, while demonstrating willingness to do the hard work and drive tactical execution

Ideal Qualifications
  • 8+ years in retail store sales and operations, including at least 5 years as a Director, Regional VP (RVP) or Vice President of store operations, ideally within fashion or apparel
  • Excellent mentor, communicator, motivator, and data-driven leader
  • Proven team builder who can demonstrate excellent hiring, training, management and leadership skills
  • Deep knowledge of implementing and managing day-to-day in-store marketing, inventory management, human resources, planning, and financial oversight
  • Entrepreneurial attitude
  • Willingness to travel more than 75% of the time
