Distribution Director, People Leadership and Growth

Location: Lincoln, NE
Date Posted: 04-09-2018
Have you managed multiple retail or ecommerce distribution centers and fulfillment centers (FCs), but you are most passionate about building connected, high performing, high growth teams? Are you constantly looking to improve people and processes? Are you a talented change leader who carves the path and executes? Do you enjoy rolling up your sleeves to get into the details and data? Are you energized by transformation and team development in an innovative and exceptional company culture? Most of all, do you love guiding, mentoring, and enhancing careers for individuals throughout the supply chain operations network?

Our high growth, profitable ecommerce client Spreetail (www.spreetail.com) seeks to fill a new role leading the team development and process enhancements across all company distribution centers, while connecting in an inspiring and compelling way with all of the teams (5 FCs today, and there will be 8 by Q1 of next year).

The company's goal is $400M in revenue this year alone, and they are just getting started. The fulfillment/distribution centers will employ 1,000+ people in the US over the next 5 years, and the company needs a talented leader who wants who focuses on developing people and teams so that they can grow within other areas of the company.

This position is based on the innovation campus in Lincoln, Nebraska -- a vibrant and exciting community of tech companies, entrepreneurs, and growing businesses -- and you will coordinate with on-site and remote teams all over the country. You will report directly to the Head of Operations, and your peers will be multi-DC management experts.

Key Capabilities

  • Passionate about team development: clear background of hiring, mentoring, and building other leaders, with a consistent showing of people who grew up and out of operations into other company departments.  You will be responsible for the people execution throughout the FC network. You will demonstrate constant coaching, growth, accountability, and and push for increased improvement.
  • Multi-unit leadership: you have led a fulfillment center (FC) network or multiple DCs, and FC general managers have reported directly to you.
  • Excellent communicator and presenter: you easily break down complex scenarios into digestible formats for stakeholders.
  • Data-driven: you have a strong track record of compiling, analyzing, and using data to actually implement significant changes within your company.
  • Details are your friend: you know both the granular and high-level strategic information related to your business success, and you have a current and constant understanding of your FCs' performance KPIs.
  • High accountability: you not only manage the business, you own it, and you demonstrate that ownership in all of your communications and actions.
  • Partnership focused: you heavily influence and proactively partner with leaders in other parts of the organization, and you look for areas where you can make a difference outside of your own vertical.

This isn't a job or career, this is a lifestyle and it's not for the faint of heart. But for the rare leader who is driven by the challenge and flourishes in a high growth, high opportunity environment, this will be a lot of fun.  This is about managing the entire ecommerce product lifecycle, from identifying new categories, developing strategic vendor relationships, managing a significant P&L, building training and development programs for your team, establishing leadership pipelines, and continually improving the supply chain through cost savings and improved efficiencies.

Awesome corporate culture. Ultra-low turnover. Committed team members. No egos or politics. Lean hierarchy and continuous access to senior leadership. This is a career-making role at a company you'll want to be a part of for a very long time.

Relocation provided. Competitive salary, company stock awards, high quality of life, and lower cost of living make this a truly unique opportunity. Regular travel required to the company's US fulfillment centers (5 now, 8 by Q1 of next year).
