Our high growth, profitable ecommerce client seeks to fill a new role leading the logistics and transportation network for the whole company: procurement, efficiency, auditing, process enhancements, and most importantly, people development. The fulfillment/distribution centers will employ 1,000+ people in the US over the next 5 years, and the company needs a talented leader who wants to not only optimize all parcel/logistics/transportation spend, but also focus on developing people and teams so that they can grow within other areas of the company.
 
This is a challenging position across multiple warehouses, with significant amounts of spend. The sky is the limit for the right person in this role.
 
Key Capabilities
 
  • Demonstrated ownership of transportation for a consumer-focused company's warehouses/distribution centers (ecommerce, retail, consumer goods). This includes inbound, outbound, truckload, LTL, line haul, local delivery.
  • Negotiations expertise: parcel, carriers, service providers.
  • Knowledge about expanding last mile delivery options within omnichannel retail, e.g., 3rd party local delivery management, setting up owned processes for the same.
  • Experience optimizing parcel spend with carriers (FedEx, UPS, USPS), including auditing and ensuring that performance meets contractual expectations.
  • Knowledge of dispatching, line haul scheduling, and fleet management.
  • Deep contacts with logistics and carrier contacts in the industry, and you know know how to build and foster relationships that add value to Spreetail.
  • Strategic vision to identify team growth needs and recommend organizational changes to help grow the function.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading teams within company-managed transportation functions (from procurement, purchasing, supply chain analytics, transportation department, or other applicable functions at a consumer-focused company).
